Sam joined Yorkshire Sport Foundation and Sport England’s Extended Workforce Team I October 2018.
Prior to that Sam has worked extensively in the voluntary and community and social enterprise sector, working in sports facility management and sports development in the West Midlands, North West and West Yorkshire for over a decade before spending nearly 20 years leading community regeneration, renewal and health and wellbeing programmes in Bradford, including running a successful social enterprise.
Sam is driven by supporting people to be the best they can and want to be, particularly people who don’t have the advantages that others do. And, is convinced that physical activity and sport can play its part in this.
With a wealth of experience of working with and in diverse communities and using her knowledge of community based working to influence decision makers, Sam knows that we get the best results, particularly for people who could benefit most, through working collaboratively across sectors, including with communities.
Sam lives in Haworth on the edge of the Pennines in West Yorkshire. In her spare time, she loves being active outdoors, particularly cycling, walking on the moors and digging and planting on her allotment. And has recently added a cocker spaniel puppy to her household who is keeping her on her toes!
